I think of myself as a reasonably competent navigator but a complete klutz when it comes to cruising around these fora.
I recently updated my Mozilla/Firefox, and perhaps coincidentally, I now find that if I click onto a link and then try to return to the original post, I end up back on my Firefox home page: I then have to go through ybw.com to return to that post.
What can I do to avoid this?

If the link is opening in a new window, try closing the window rather than using the back button? Fraid I don't use Mozilla any more so can't remember its quirks.

Is firefox opeining the link in a new 'tab' (It does for me). If so, just click the [x] button at the top of the tab to close it. It sounds obvious, but confused the heck out of SWMBO.

You may be clicking on the grey circle, not the white cross on the red background. If the link has opened a new tab, right click on the tab and choose "close tab" You can use the "Close Tab" cross, but it closes the active tab, which usually turns out to be the one you wanted to keep open. (in this instance it would close the Forum tab)

You can alter Tab behaviour by going to Tools>Options>Tabs

That's odd - mine (2.0.0.1) has a close button on each tab. Clicking the grey circle doesn't do anything. Must be something in the configuration......

To the OP: The 'Back' button applies only to the current tab.

By default (I think), Firefox opens it's own homepage when a new tab is created. So clicking a link from the forum will open a new tab, which will start loading the FF homepage, but then the address of the link arrives, and the tab goes there instead. This leaves the FF homepage in the 'history' of that tab, so when you click 'Back' with that tab active, that's where you go. (Clear as mud!)

Do you have the 'Close' button on each tab as shown below? If so just use it instead of the back button to clear the new link. (The other possibility is that the link is opening in a new window - there will be several 'Firefoxes" on the task bar in that case).

I'm using 1.5.09
Perhaps I'm behind.
If you go to Tool>Options>General and alter the default home page to your chosen one (I use Google, as it's useful and fast loading) or blank, you won't get the Firefox Home page.

Thanks for suggestions, I think that I am now a little more computer literate than before.
I lived for 20 years in Kendal before moving to SW France. Used to keep a boat on Windermere but was driven off by the jet skiers and speedboats. How is it now since the speed limit was introduced?

Very peaceful. 30 yachts in the north basin would be a busy day.
On the other hand the small dinghy use and canoes has increased a lot. So not entirely a disaster.
Still a fair number of MOBOs about, but very unobtrusive.

The lack of jetskis is the major benefit.
