Almost certainly they have fitted the coaxial cable for the VHF com antenna. l

But it goes to the very top of the 48FT(?) mast. You wouldn't put an antenna up there would you? When we were talking of lightning protection we did discuss the exotic type lightning conductor mentioned several posts ago.

That's the usual place to put it, as high as possible.

As VHF is line of sight the higher the better for the best range.

There is a formula to calculate range based on the hight of the transmitting and receiving antenna.
