Lifting keel yachts ?

The Jeanneau and the Beneteau are the same keel arrangemetn for the lift keel. The Jen SO35 one is an upscaled Oceanis 311 one, and the 331 was v similar to the Jen . Havent inspected the undersidfe of a 343, it was going to be a whole year before that came out, so we bought the SO35. The 331 was offered at a serious amount of discount at the time.

The beneteau is on for about 80 k the dealer tells me and theres 2 in stock
Did you see the pictures of the keel it looks very different to the keel on your boat more like a dagger board wich i would have thought wouldnt be as stable
I phoned westways who said the jeanneau 35 with lift up keel is no longer made
i know everyone has different circumstances but how often do you dry out on beachs etc when away from your mooring just roughly

We dry out regularly, so much in fact that I had the yard reepoxy the underside of the keel with another 5 coats.
We also dry out on the Crouch on a firm bit to scrub off twice a year.
The main advantage is the ability to go creek crawling and sit in anchorages where you are not crowded out.

I know that SO35 Lifts not made anymore - bit of a duff decision IMHO. Fully made up ones 2005-2006 should be around 80k I would have thought.

So it sounds like Bene went a different route with the 343 then? Does it intrude in the cabin?

The bene keel comes completly up so i would guess it does will post the picture from the brochure when i get home
Were in bembridge at the rafted up 3 deep when we got here we were 5 deep with some right arsey types saying oh " dont walk over my deck there " which pissed me off why go to a place like bembridge if you cant stand being rafted up !
I havnt seen any j 35 lk anywhere infact yours is the onle one ive ever seen so they are a bit rare
The bene keel worrys me a bit because of the stabilty issue
we go out even if theres a rougher stuff about
Regards

What stability issue?
Is this real or perceived? Ovni s have a very low Vanishing Stabilty Angle about 100 degreess I think, but is the tool of choice of many liveabord hardy cruisers like Jimmy Cornell.
I have lived with lifting keels for a long while, and have to agree that my old Evolution 25 used to sound like it was going to hammer the hull aprt, but never looked like it on inspection. Things have moved on from there.
If you want to search for Sun Oddity 35 LKs, add the word Deriveur or DL to the search. There are quite a few on the Jeanneau Owners Network site.

Hi
a bit to fast for family cruising I reckon

Why do people keep saying this? Why is a fast boat not suitable for cruising? Could always get a caravan instead I guess.
