Im looking around for a lifting keel day saler/cruser for a drying mooring in the UK. I have a few boats on my short list in that are in my price range such as Hunter Delta, Evolution 26 and i need some help if possible to focus my search. The super seal 26 is stretching my budget a bit and appears to need to have some modifications to the keel lifted the last few inches so ive disregarded these at this stage.

Evolution 25 ( 26 with more head room and slightly smaller rig), Jaguar 25, Jaguar 23. Super Seals have fabulous reputation as does the Delta......
Jouet and Feeling 720 ?......Jeanneau Tonic or Fantasia, Beneteau 26........all available with lift keels of one sort or another

Price should relate to the condition of the boat. There was a fairly common modification on the seals that either lifted the centre board another few inches or left it out a few more inches I cant remember exactly and I don't think that should put you off. My thoughts on the super seal was that it was considerably heavier than the Delta (yes I'm biased we had one for 6 years) and was consequently a little harder to handle all round. I liked the fact that the keel was a serious counterbalance on the Delta and meant it coped well with heavy weather, i.e. you could get away with too much sail up. the Super seal was best reefed much earlier than the delta all in my opinion! Super seal was a better light wind boat than the Delta.

I have the seal 26, I'm on a drying swinging mooring, I never raise the keel all the way up, as it helps when she's afloat to stay in line with the other boats. Its about a foot of board below the bottom.

All that happens when she dries out, is the keel is pushed up to the bottom of the hull, no real drama, and never had an issue with it getting stuck. Very simple but effective arrangement.

If you do want it flush, you can move the pulley position on the keel, or fit a top box to the deck to enable you to pull it up flush, I have the top box, its a simple enough item to fabricate.

Re TSB 240
Absolutely...the Anderson is an interesting design; the one featured used to be an east coast boat, but I see it is no longer a lifting keel, having had the keel welded down......
The Pegasii? (the 700 too) had a swing keel plate in a deepish ballast stub. Also were available with a variety of rigs.....
