lift & scrub costs

Price looks OK compared to my own cost of £200 for a 33 footer (including a 10% reduction for being a good MDL customer!).

I paid about £180 2 years ago at Peters in Chichester Marina for a 33 footer.
Last year I did it myself on the scrubbing posts at Itchenor for £12.50 including electricity and water. A lot cheaper and much more fun.

Itchenor is in Chichester Harbour, about 3.5 nm from the harbour entrance on the East side.
Good pub (The Ship I think) to have a meal in while you wait to re-float if you time it right.
Really friendly people. The boat yard even lent us their extension cable.

Think you've got a wing and bulb Alan? Seem to remember some time ago, someone at Ancasta suggested not a good idea to dry out against piles.

Price sounds good to me. I want out for a week and can't do it anywhere for some time. Then it's £300 - £500!!

If you dont know if you have a 'wing' or 'bulb' keel! Its time you did have it out of the water. If you can see it for the weed? - only joking!

If you have a bulb keel you can dry out - itchenor a good place - check the tides!

The problem with 'bulb' and 'wings' are the undersides!

Consider an alternative....

...that is if all you want is a scrub.

When we were at Port Hamble we used to get a local diver to clean the bottom for us. Because the paint was soft and all he used was a sponge he took only the minimum amount of AF off with the slime & weed. He charged £2 per foot (£3 for twin keelers) Sadly MDL stopped him working there and gave a monopoly to Andark who turned up with a "Divemaster", two attendants and a dive boat as well as the divers (2). This made it more expensive than a lift-out but the lack of disruption and risk of damage made it still a possible alternative.

Now the previous diver I think, still will operate in secluded spots where he doesn't run the risk of being run down. I think that I still have his card somewhere if you are interested. He was an ex-naval diver.
