Lift out needed 2 weeks after a lift out.

Had my lift and hold a few weeks back and did what I need to do. (Coppercoat so antifoul not needed)

This week a spare concrete float from another marina came to pay a visit. Wedged itself between the bow of my boat and the real pontoon. I don’t know how long it was there and thankfully a big ball fender stopped it going further aft than it did. But a concrete block doesn’t make a great fender.

So for the first time in 3 years Evenstar will have to come out and be blocked off. Non structural damage thankfully but rather beyond polishing out. Last time she was blocked off the boat next to me fell over and whacked the other side.

Paul the GRP magician will make it go away. Even so, annoying.

I thought so but had a little flutter last weekend. It recovered but I felt something.
I only hoovered out the aft most section of the tank because I only put one access hole in. So some more crap may have jiggled aft past the baffles.
Now I have an easy access hatch I’m going to hoover it out again and see what’s in there.
I’m down to 1/3 tanks at the moment and have an evening and a day out planned this week so they’ll be fairly empty.
Hoover out and brim with fresh is the plan.

I boat all year round so no end of season for me. Annoying it was after my lift I could have had a freebie!

I suppose that with the lift and hold you took the opportunity to powerwash the Coppercoated hull.
In your experience, for how long does the hull stay clean enough to not need being powerwashed?
Mine went in the water at the end of May, and while the growth is still quite acceptable, she could definitely use a powerwash by now...

I normally lift and hold twice a year to clean sterngear and power wash the hull. It has always needed power washing so I don’t know the answer to your question. Ive not been out so soon after a lift before.

Had really good experience with Craftinsure when we made a claim a few years ago .My fault completely. Sent them some pix and repair quotes and they sent back the "fix it" email virtually straight away.

I’ve had 2 claims before, one the fault of the (instructor) skipper on my boat and one when another boat fell on mine in the boatyard. The 3rd party paid in that case.

They have always been excellent. And their prices are keen.

However they do have a clause that says in the case of a total loss they can replace your boat with a similar boat at their discretion. For some people that would be a show stopper.

Good to hear that.
I used to see a tad cleaner hull on my previous (traditionally antifouled) boat at the end of the summer, but if powerwashing a coppercoated hull twice a year can be considered normal, I guess I can't complain for some growth after 5 of the warmer months! :encouragement:

I get more growth than the best fresh antifoul. But I have to come out anyway for the sterngear and I don’t have to pay to be blocked off. Works for me.

Yup, agreed.
As far as I can tell so far (I'm only on 2nd CC season), the slightly lower effectiveness vs. "normal" a/f is a compromise worth accepting.
Also because, just to put that in perspective, at the end of the season all I'm losing is a couple of knots, out of 33 max.
Unfortunately, I can't compare that with the loss I would have with traditional a/f on the same boat, because I went for CC right after purchasing her.
But even if the loss would be just one knot (I can't imagine it being none at all), I would still call it an impressive performance for CC. :encouragement:
