I'm after a new one
6 man canister to bulkhead mount in a cradle
I plan cruising cross channel and channel islands
Coz it will be on show in the cockpit I'd like something small, light and neat as well as safe!!
Any views?

I have a four person canister which fits out of the way like this:

Do check, but I don't think the equivalent 6 person liferaft is much bigger.

The man servicing mine a month or two back said to avoid anything Italian. He said that Seago and Sea Safe are good kit for the money: Chinese made versions of an oldish design, but solidly constructed. Having said that, the emergency fishing kit did make us smile.

...and if you're planning to store it on it's end (or on it's back) make sure you tell the supplier so that it can be packed properly - the gas bottle should be packed at the lowest point in the canister so that it doesn't abrade the raft

I did a Sea Survival course and learned a lot about difficulties getting on board.

Then I wandered around LIBS a few years ago and compared ladders, plastic quality, etc etc for a few hours...

Ended up with a Viking.

The good news is I have never needed to use it.
