We need to get the liferaft serviced before next Spring anybody know who can do this in the Algarve?

It depends upon the make of liferaft, assuming that you want a manufacturers approved agent. Most seem to be small one-man-bands but may be none the worse for that. However, in this area of the world I personally prefer to use a major outfit, preferably one also doing large scale ship type work rather than one doing only yacht-scale rafts. I have used such a major outfit in the past and been satisfied with their work and price. They are in Lisbon. Unfortunately the details are on the boat approx 1,000 miles away from where I am at the moment! I recall that their name was AIFE. They were certainly approved for Avon and Viking rafts among many others. A google might find them. Or Sopromar in Ferragudo should be able to arrange it for you.
Fair winds.

We used Orey, based in Alcantarilha in the Algarve, last year and were very pleased with their service.

They allowed us to watch the raft being inflated, talked us through all the various parts, including the emergency pack and made recommendations.

They also service fire extinguishers. I believe they do a pick up / delivery service as well, if required.

The tel no from our certificate is +351 282 322 795

I've also had good reports about them but had ours serviced last time in Gib.

Past experience dictates I would not use the Plastimo agent at Lisbon again so beware of any agent/chandler sending a raft there. When unpacked in Gib, both inflation valves were found to be broken, old torch batteries had leaked and the thermal floor was missing!

Liferaft Service

We need to have our liferaft serviced next spring, but have just discovered that Ocean Safety do not have an approved service agent in Portugal - very disappointing. (Note that I have already written to them on this matter).

Orey Tecnica have service centres in the Algarve, Lisbon and here in Leixoes, and are agents for some liferaft brands; hopefully they will be for Ocean Safety soon.

Hi, have you considered servicing your own life raft, it is not difficult, and you will know it's done right. Just take photos as you unpack to aid repacking.
I, like many long distance cruisers, have serviced my own rafts for the past 15 years.
Pump up with your dinghy pump until the pressure release valves blow.
Examine seams and material for signs of cracking or separation.
Examine tank for signs of rust or damage.
Check contents for suitability for your cruising area.
Use pump suction to deflate.
Important, do not cover the canister, it is white to reflect the sun light. If covered it may cook the raft leading to early failure..
Hope you find the above helpful. Hugh
