Liferaft service in S France.

Just asked a company in S France to service my liferaft (8 man zodiac). Initial reply yes, but then they said they needed the raft's "book" otherwise they could not service it. Dont have a book and it was not requested last time. (But that was in Turkey). Is this a French thing?

I was the same question when I wanted my liferaft serviced. It turned out that what they wanted was the certificate.

If the company is by any chance "Quelart" - I'd give them a miss. They charged us £800 for a second service on a 4 y.o. 4man liferaft. Previous year's service in Levkas was £150 and the next one will hopefully be in the UK.
