For a 55-ish foot boat I think I'd go for 1x4person + 1x6person or 2x4person or 2x6person.
I can tell you that a 6 person raft is blimmin' cosy with 6 in it tho'
But you very much wouldn't want to be 2-up in a 12 person raft cos it would probably capsize and you'd die of drowning or freezing.
