Just bought a crewsaver sprayhood for my lifejacket.

Out of interest (ie to see if I could scare the kids) I took it out of the stowage pack to try on. It took me a couple of minutes to unroll it whilst sitting on the sofa. Would have taken much longer if I was in the wet stuff. The problem was that it is tightly packed and the plastic had sort of cling filmed together.

So a word of advice, if you've bought one of these and just clipped it onto you lifejacket's belt, open it up and have a play with it.

I think I will stow it partially opened inside my jacket, as per the option in the instructions.

I couldn't agree more. I bought one of these a few years ago. Thankfully i've never needed it in anger.

I find it amazing that a company with the name & reputation of Crewsaver sell such rubbish.

At least they tend to throw in Crotch Straps for free.

Pet peeve of mine.

May I urge everyone to do as I do, whenever you run into anyone from Crewsaver or Cosalts (parent company) eg on their stand at a Boat Show, tell them how catatonically USELESS this particular bit of kit is.

BTW, it gets worse. If you carry the darned thing in the pouch sooner or later it will undo itself and get tangled up in something - potentially dangerous I think.

Once fitted the sprayhood does work. Fitting it also gives you something to do while waiting to be picked up.
But I must agree it's NOT a elegant solution.
