I need 2 rearming kits for Crewsaver 150N automatic lifejackets. Force4 have the Crewsaver one for £24.95 but the Seago is £15.95. It refers to a 175N jacket but it is a 33g cannister The Seago one looks exactly like the old ones but does anyone know if they are interchangeable. They are even cheaper from United Moulders but the difference is minimal if you add the postage.

As far as I'm aware, there are two types of kit, one for UM activators, with a salt pellet to set them off, one for Hammar activators, with a pressure device. Wherever you get the rearming kit from, you'll be fine. I've just changed the activators on a Crewsaver 275N, several XM 150Ns and some Ardec 150s, using the same UM activators. The only thing that isn't interchangeable is the cylinder, which is bigger on the 275, but they only need to be changed if the jacket's gone off or they're rusty or underweight

I don't think that's quite true - those are the two major types of inflator, but in the dissolving-pellet category there are a number of different sub-types. Afraid I don't know which, as apart from an extra child's jacket all mine are Hammar.

I rang Force4 to see what they had in stock and they said the Seago kit may not fit the Crewsaver jackets because the thread can be different. the ones in the picture of the kit on the Force4 website look exactly the same as the UM ones which in turn seem to be the same as the ones i need to replace. If Stemar believes they are all the same if they are not Hammar then it would appear to be ok. Has anyone else done the same.

Have a look at Aspli safety - they carry the common kits too and at good prices usually.

Indeed, but they didn't have the kit I needed to service the child's lifejacket I bought from a forumite and which turned out to be well out of date. The point is that there are several different varieties of dissolving-tablet inflator and you need to get the kit for the right one. I had to pay a lot more than the Aspli price (which are good if they have the kit you need) to put that jacket back into service.

Caution - there are two UM bobbins which look identical but have different threads. My recollection is the Crewsaver is the odd one - different from everyone else, but I could be wrong. These people know their stuff http://www.lifejackets.co.uk/
Though I don't know whether they'll give you the lowest price. They do however, in my experience, give you the "freshest" bobbins. In think their life is about three years. I have seen ones on sale with only a year to go. At least with this supplier they'll tell you the expiry date on the bobbins they have if you email them. I bought my latest replacements there on the basis that they'd give me whole season more than those from my local chandler.

Thanks for the replies, It's Aspli I'd looked when I referred to UM. I think I will have to bring the jackets back from the boat and check dates etc and ring round.
