I will NEVER return there again the food was awful plastic cold, the staff were rude, both on the telephone and when we arrived, we were treated like cattle, like they were doing us a favour. Disgusting service. you have been warned..

Doesn't surpise me in the least. We've never found them friendly and the food is the same when ever you go to one of these pubs. The only reason why we go there is for the view as that harbour has probably the best boats in the island

I've emailed the MD of the group - how can you refuse to pay? It is up front when you order the meal, like school dinners!!

We have had some good meal at the Lifeboat in the past. But there are part of the Brewer's Fayre Chain and I have had some good meals and some bad meals at other branches. I think it just depends on who the manager is and the chef is this week. Turnover can be pretty high.

Trouble is, where else do you go in Cowes for a similar meal? Are there any other decent pubs to eat in?

I agree Lifeboat is as plastic as they come - yet The Sloop at Wootton Bridge is owned by the same chain and the food is much better. For eating in East Cowes try Coasters Coffee Shop in the town - Routiers listed and good for breakfast and lunch but sadly not open at night

When East Cowes Marina was just starting up we overnighted and went to the Lifeboat - had our lightweight yachting jackets on as it was drizzling. We were told that they didn't like yottie types in their pub (true!!!!!) so we walked towards the chain ferry and went in the first pub we came to.
Have no plans to EVER set foot in the Lifeboat Inn again.

Quite agree. Eaten there twice.

First time waited for ages to be served and then got main course before the starter!

Second try, (only cos I was tired and hungry and couldn't be bothered to go anywhere else) waited over an hour for the starter.

Won't be a third time.

The Westerly Owners Assn. have a Christmas Rally & Dinner for about 60 peeps there every December. The Lifeboat Inn has looked after us well the last three years, the food was good honest pub grub, hot and tasty and they were very welcoming. I would say it was as good as any other rally venue I have been to and much better than some
I have no experience of this place any other time
