A great white shark called Nicole, fitted with a satellite tag, has astonished boffins by swimming from Cape Town to Australia and back in nine months....a record for a marine creature.

The shark was also recorded as spending more than 60 per cent of the 'voyage' just below the surface causing scientists to speculate the <span style="color:red"> mammal </span> might have been using the Sun and stars to navigate.

The beast also dived to a new record depth of 3,215 ft (980m).

When it dived to a "record" depth was it looking for signposts or didn't the scientists "speculate" on that?

How do we know it's name is Nicole?

This sort of report raises more questions than answers.

Personally, I think that we should be using that kind of technology to track down bad people like Osama Bin Laden and Longjohnsadler. Its enough to make me send a donation to the RSPCA...poor shark. Is nothing private anymore?

How do they know it's record? May happen all the time, just not been documented before.
