MBY, yes I know I shouldn't be reading it, has a snippet about how despite the training we receive the RNLI is as busy as a one armed paperhanger. Everything is included to explain the workload except the real reason.
They'll come out these days if your stuck with the crossword or if SWMBO breaks a nail. Unless this is covered under "improved safety systems" or some such.
If they got back to the old job of saving lives rather than saving time( like waiting till the wind comes back), saving the bother (of mending your own engine) saving redfaces (grounding outside busy marina) perhaps the statistics would improve.
I don't blame the yotties for this increase in call outs, although perhaps we could stand firm in the face of the CG's "salesmanship".
