We were quite surprised to find, and buy, one of the womans blue sailing suits still available in Lido in Kirkcaldy yesterday.

SWIMBO has been pushing me for a lighter suit ever since I bought a breathable HR one for myself after a very sweaty trip through the Crinnan on Rowanta.

They still had several sets of the childrens suits left. They also have very reasonably priced shorty steamers.

As has been said before the sailing suits seem very good for the money. They are much lighter than the 12 year old Gill suits we still have. I don't think the Aldi suit will last as long.

I'll get a full report on it tonight as she is crewing a ketch up the Forth today.

Im off to try my new Lidls waterproofs for a few days. Looking at the forecast they may get a good testing....I doubt they will last as long as my old Henri LLoyds but at less than a quarter of the cost worth a gamble. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Yes, a lido can be a bit chilly, good idea to wear a suit while swimming in one - prefer a heated swimming pool myself.

Re: Lidl sailing suit

Well they didn't get a full test but a severe one.
Scotch mist and virtually no wind all day.

Out to the yacht on a tender then with virtually no wind had to motor against an outgoing tide. Two miles travelled then engine stopped, don't know the cause yet. Sailed/drifted back to mooring then a tender back ashore.

SWIMBO was wearing her new suit and recently purchased (from Duncan's sale) yellow wellies.

When she got back home- She proudly anounced - Feet dry, jeans dry and she was dry. A very happy bunny.
