Despite being a bit of a supermarket snob in the UK, travelling on the boat has opened my eyes to the wonders of Lidl. While you can't get everything there, they have some absolute bargains and at least here in Greece the fresh produce is excellent. In particular I find being able to buy meat in sealed packages that will last a few days extremely helpful.

Anyway, I found the following map showing Lidls everywhere and thought others might find it handy. I also found that if you google Lidl and the country, and then use translate the page, you can navigate well enough to find store locations and opening hours.

their ribeye steaks are very good & £6.99 in the UK for a 2 pack

Shopping in Lidl or being able to find Lidl? I find that having my basics covered cheaply and easily gives me more time and money to spend in more interesting places/shops. And they are rarely in a part of town I want to amble through so finding them quickly is a bonus. But I won't be offended if you don't look ;-)
 
I was very upset that on coming ashore in Galicia Kellogg cornflakes and Daz where easily obtainable.The other observation was to find the macho Iberian male quite happy to push a trolley round the super.....

I am a little confused jordanbasset are you referring to the toilets in asda waitrose or lidl? I am guessing the quality of toilet paper most vary in each so maybe you can recommend the best supermarket to use. It's always good to know you are heading for a clean environment while rowing ashore to dispose of the lidl ribeye first thing in a morning don't you think? ��

I had the Premium aged T-Bone last night. Very, very tender, but no flavour at all :(

Bought a brilliant watch there though for about £8.00. I've been looking for a nice looking cheap watch for holidays & travelling and this is great. Survived the swimming pool, clouded up a little in the sauna, but dried out nicely in the oven.

Oh and there new wine department, complete with Parker's ratings on the wines is fantastic. Couple of cheeky wine bargains, some smoked salmon, steak, plus a weeks shopping - £79.

Never used a toilet in Lidl or Aldi so would not like to comment on their attributes. I have used one in Iceland, the store not the country, it was okayish. Although I have also used ones in Iceland, the country not the store, much better. The Asda one's are okay but when I have a choice would go for the Waitrose loos, if that helps. I appreciate it is not always convenient to wait until you are near a Waitrose :)

Not seen a toilet in Lidl or Aldi yet.

Would we except the same very limited unpack it yourself choice as Lidl offer from Asda Tesco etc ?, plus the price rises in our local Lidl where finding Sainsbury's cheaper.

Lidl in La Linea.

Couple of tuna steaks. Fried onion on top, mashed potatoes. Accompanied by a bottle of Tempranillo for 1 euro 7 cents.

Yum.
 
We use lidl in corfu, new store its very good cheap and they even have a fresh bakery, their special range is excellent value and the wines are very cheap, aussie chardonay 2.49 euro a bottle and its very drinkable, as are all that range of wines, all with screw tops, when they have french week or italian, german etc. the range of wines and foods are excellent and cheap, fresh veg and fruit is great quality and very reasonable, even cheaper than the town market, the local tavernas use lidl as a cash and carry! You see the wines on their wine lists! Dont know why apart from price as there are fabulous greek wines!

On offer at local Lidl, Californian Zinfandel Rose £3.99 (4.97 euro) and that's about as cheap as it gets.

It it another UK rip-off again ?

I can't believe I am actually posting on a thread about bloody lidl supermarkets. For *** sake we will be discussing which value beans to put on our value bread next. I have already found myself commenting on the californian Zinfandel post and to be fair since spending so long drinking Greek wine I have completely lost my pallet and in no way fit to comment! My post about the loos was tongue in cheek but maybe given the direction of the thread it was a serious post. My only advice using supermarket toilets is take some loo paper with you. Unless you are adding the value loo roll multipack to your shopping trolley along with the value beers, value beans and value bread. What a shame the don't have free Wi Fi hey?
