Just been into Lidl in Portsmouth to see the binoculars they are selling, 8 x 42 at £49. Anyone tried them? Also they are selling a 2.9M dinghy for £299, seems like a bargain, again anyone bought one?

They may be just as good as the secuteurs I bought there a while back. They broke the very first time I tried to use them. The compost bins seem OK though!

Is the dinghy a Navigator 3? These 3 person inlateables also have a transom plate for fitment of a 2.5hp engine, inflateable keel, carry bag, oars and repair kit.
They are grey and have an anchor logo on the front.
If so that is the going rate (£299) - not particularly fantastic value but good nontheless.
The quality isn't bad (TUV approval/ CE compliant) but they are abviously not up there with Lodestar/Avon/Bombadier.
Should last OK but just not as reilient as the others mentioned.
Still, at £299, you pays your money and you takes your choices..

The dinghy looks very good value but the weight, which was not included in the advertising, at 36 kilos makes it too big for my use. If you do need a 2.9m dinghy capable of taking a 9HP outboard it must be worthy of consideration. I'm well satisfied with the halliards and shackles I bought.
