Just purchased one of these from Lidl and boy is it bright. The automatic SOS flashing feature could be of use I guess but in the main, it's a robust metallic very bright water resistant torch that I thought may be of interest to others considering the price

3W LED Torch

p.s. they also had night vision bino's for sale for under £100

Looks interesting - but IP44 is not particularly waterproof - more like splashproof I'm afraid

I'm not sure whether the Lidl torch is zoomable or not, but I recently bought a zoomable high power torch from eBay for about £7, and it's outstandingly good! The one I got was like this one, but there are loads of similar offers at that sort of price - look for "Cree XM-L" as this is the type of LED fitted.

I have a few LED torches, from cheap to expensive, and they are very bright to say the least - 1200 lumens or higher even. We're using one to replace the spotlight on the boat.

I now prefer those with AA or AAA batteries. The camera-style batteries are expensive; you get rechargeable ones however, unless the torch has special protective circuitry, it is suggested elsewhere that the batteries can explode and, given the sealed body of the torch, this could be even more dangerous. There were some videos on Youtube showing the results.

Nice review. I am looking to get one torch maily of for camping purpose. Can you tell about the battery output how much time it will work with full charged batteries?
