Just thought i'd get in early with the annual "wasn't the TV coverage of LIBS rubbish" thread.

Yes, there are other boats besides mobos, no we don't want any more cooking lessons, and yes isn't the fog tunnel fantastic...

There done it.... now all we've got to do is wait for the programme to be broadcast.

Oh I don't know, The Welsh news on BBC1 just showed our new pontoons being build in the estuary at Cardigan being advertised at the boat show.

Our mooring is about 10 yards from the pontoon, you never know I might even get my wife out on the boat if I can promise her a dry arse and a G&T.

But I do agree that historically the coverage is pants considering the numebr of people who get out there on whatever kind of boat they choose. (apart from jet skies of course... To$$ers)

I wonder how much coverage Dame Ellen will get this year?

Probably half the show if previous years are to go by.. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

We always watch it expecting it to be interesting and about something relevant to our interests. But it's always presented by people who know nothing and care even less and cover everything except sailing boats. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

When is this self-flagellation on TV? - fall for it every time and probably will this year. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

Dame Ellen opened the show, with Mike Golding and Alex Thomson. She then proceeded to beat them both in timed laps in a crewed 40ft monster (Volvo?) racing cat in the dock outside. Amazing to watch. I think only Ellen had it flying a hull.

Little Knot

Ah, but Ellen hasn't just returned from a keel failure and a dismasting in the southern ocean. I'm sure it hits your confidence quite hard to a while. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

You've already missed the best coverage of the boat show. BBC News 24 had a crew there today for the preview and, as you would expect, the reporter appeared to know naff all about boats.

Precious moments were:

After talking to Sunseeker M.D. he walks off relating how said boat costs £500,000 a year to run ( and before price of diesel goes up).
Very boring interview with the Captain of the naval frigate who says he is keeping us all safe from piracy whilst reporter appears to get the name of the frigate totally confused.
Finally much awaited appearance of Day Mellon and Mike Golding............... er, no, we didn't see them as they were apparently sailing a cat in a speed trial which the cameraman was supposed to focus on (reporting team is now in a rib) but fails to do so as rib has to take avoiding action to get out of the way.

Confused........... hell, I was, luckily I was put out of my misery by the arrival of new fridge/freezer delivery which was the reason for me watching the fiasco.

Sky advertising "The London Boat Show"

Celebrating Britain's island heritage, featuring inland cruising, sea survival and the coastguard. Plus fun in a fog tunnel and anchor pool, and the latest gadgets and super boats.

Sounds great eh?
