We are hoping to do our usual trip to the boat show in January.

Last year we flew Edinburgh to London City, for about £35 each way, However this year when i try to get price they are asking £354.16 EACH. So for a day out, its a bit bloody expencive!!!

Is there anyone else fae up narth flying doon, that has some how got a better deal, and if i hold off, should the price get better.

What if we were to fly to a different airport, is there any easy access from say, Stansted or Gatwick to Excel, bearing in mind its a day return so the more time wasted on travelling means less time looking at boats and joining some of you at the Guiness stand again!!

Cheers
Alistair.

STN probably best ( and cheapest as long as flights cheaper). Ltn also practicable but a little more hassle. LGW will probaly be more expensive and train times are changing so may not fit .. also a bit of a drag out from Victoria... Forget LHR --- tube journey from the devil... Tried looking at a different day in to LCY?

Yip, tried different Days, and still coming up with mega fares.

So you recon, Stansted is best, how easy is it to get in from there, bearing in mind my wife will be with me, and wants a hassle free day.

Cheers.

Check your flight prices on them .. but assuming Stansted

Walk downstairs to Airport train station. Catch Express to Lpl Street /... Get off At Tottenham Hale and take Victorial line to Highbury and Islington , catch train to Custom House (Excel) .... I guess total journey time about 75 minutes ? .. not sure how often train times are but quickest way if you can connect

Ok, Champion, I will look at that option now.

Thanks very much.

Alistair.

You can also have a look here

Stick in date and time, then Start point (eg Stansted) and finish point (Custom House) and it will give connections, then you can choose easiest.

Just goes to show that councils actually do something worthwhile now and then! :)

Thats a resonable price,
And Glasgow is far better for me as well.
So are you booked to go down?

And if so, what your plan on getting from Heathrow to Excel??

<hr width=100% size=1><A target="_blank" HREF=http://arweb.co.uk/argallery/alistair?&page=1> My Pictures, Please take a Look.</A>

Yup ... thought £97.40 each was not too bad....

Thinking about it actually, but not decided just yet .... depends a bit on business which I may have to attend to anyway ... but if I do I'll shout ... and then again how about a short hop in a helicopter ??... could be fun in a 212/214 or a R44..and we could drop by to pick up Pauline...;-))

We are thinking about the 10th Jan, For a minute, i thought you meant you would Shout(pay) the Helicopter flight/forums/images/icons/shocked.gif/forums/images/icons/laugh.gif.
So what do you recon, that would cost?

Not sure about picking up Pauline though, She may take advantage of the Pilot, and then gawd knows where we'll end up!!!!!!!
