I'm told by the supplier that the Pro Series 700 & 1000, have the same 700w motor.
Given that the 700 is specified for boats up to 35' & the 1000 boats up 40' or 45' depending on try information source, how do they achieve the extra capability?

The installation manual says the 700 version is 500W, and the 1000 version is 700W. Maybe the same motor, but Lewmar are accepting a small warranty risk on people buying the 1000 version. They're virtually the same price, so why not buy the 1000?

I suspect so, but Lewmar seem rather coy about saying exactly what it is. Spex rate the 700 at 35A, 1000 at 50A (with max working loads roughly pro-rata), so the latter maybe just gets 'pumped' harder.

This is the case, the 700 just has a lower rated circuit breaker and a 7mm gypsy. I managed to get a 700, secondhand but unused, then fitted a new circuit breaker and 8mm gypsy. Lo and behold... a 1000 which has worked fine ever since.

Thanks for that info.
I have a 1000 and so far have burnt out 2 motors. Ours seem to last 5 years, but we are using our anchor all the time in Greece.
