Hi, Does anyone know if this type of hinge is adjustable, seems very stiff in operation and can see considerable movement around the fixing bracket as it moves past it's "notches"

All advice gratefully received.

Hi, I've got the same type of hatch and always put a smear of Vaseline or similar on the 'teeth' shown in your piccy. This acts as lubricant and allows the rubber(?) sprung element that 'clicks' into the teeth to move more freely.

There is no adjustment, though the method above does work.

Those hatches were a disaster for Lewmar. They used to supply a free hinge kit to fix the problem. Not easy because a fiddly job.

That's really interesting and the first time I've heard that. Mine are 25 years old and still perfect, so I guess I'm lucky.

Out of interest, what precisely was the 'disaster'? And what did the kit do/replace? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Replacement acrylic

Look up sign makers in the yellow pages
I had mine cut to size and fitted myself a couple of years ago
cost about £25 per hatch for 12mm thick acrylic.
To increase longevity, I now cover the hatches whilst laid up over winter.
