I have a Gen 1 Lewmar 185TT thruster (5kW) - noted some discussion about contactors (all very useful). Disconnected mine & lifted my motor to check the shear pin (which had broken) and also check for brush wear. No immediate concerns with the brushes & new shear pin ordered, replacement brush costs appear high @ £150+, any one found an alternative more reasonably priced supplier please.

I have the same bow thruster.
I haven't had to change the brushes, but I have changed the contactor. I found that spare parts suppliers specialising in forklift trucks and similar warehousing equipment can supply a lot of the Lewmar spares. They stock identical spare parts under different part numbers, because the Lewmar part number is "proprietary".
If you phone them and ask for an equivalent to a Lewmar part number they can usually supply it at a fraction of the cost.
I'm not in a position to look up the company just now, but if you look back at my post on contactors, I've posted the name and contact details of a company in Chorley who were very helpful. Failing that, PM me and I'll look them up, when I get back home.
