unfortunately i require to take levothyroxine and metformin daily, Any advice information about availability and costs around the EU would be most appreciated, forewarned is forearmed
SWMBO takes Levothyroxine daily, we got some over the counter in either Italy or Spain last year - cant remember if we had to show the prescription to demonstrate the need. In the UK, GPs can be sniffy about providing it for more than 6 months as they say the amount required can vary over time so they want bloods to assess need. As SWMBO has been stable for 5-6 years shes comfortable with the amounts.
thanks Mac if you could.Could you next time your passing ask for Levothyroxine how much and if you need a prescription? if i need one i don't know what i'm going to do
Hi I find that it is easy to get a prescription if needed from local gp etc in Spain / Gib where needed and I get 6 months supply of other medication as am on boat
Happy Mondays: just got back from the pharmacy. Both levothyroxine and metformin are freely available over-the-counter here in Greece. Couldn't get a price as it varies with mg per tab. Defining a range of prices far exceeded my Greek and the pharmacist's English.
In France I do not know whether the medicines are available over the counter or not but if you need to see a GP, see a "médecin conventionné" (controlled fees : €23) which you can recover with your payment with the International Health Insurance. It would help to be able to show a previous prescription otherwise he might insist on a blood test.
