Levi Corsair..... very nice

Indeed the Corsair is a lovely boat, to my mind its one of Sonny Levi's finest designs. I think there's about 3 or 4 about the Solent.

I'm pretty sure you can still have one built in Italy, not sure of the cost.

Oh, yes, I nearly forgot, its nothing like a Fairey!

sorry, but I have gone off the original topic a tad... but as the op... I don't mind too much, a little related IMO anyway if we are talking things of beauty, just had a look at the Chris Craft website from the last post. I have a friend with a 60's Chris Craft and that is a thing of beauty, but it takes a bit of looking after. However I think I might sell a kidney for one of these Silver bullet's,

please tell me I am not alone;

Did the Chedi ourself... http://www.designhotels.com/chediphuket?gclid=CPOwwejg3qACFcOX2AodPUVAqg ... Beautiful place and great stuff...did not rent a Levi, but did rent a boat and did go to the same place as you did... including the floating city for a meal...

We also went to Phi Phi as well as the place were they filmed the beach, monkey Island and the Lagoon,on another boat trip, could not believe how many speed boats were doing these tours, thankfully we privately hired the boat so asked the skipper to take us to some remote Islands away from the crowds, found some fantastic beaches. The skipper was asking me if I fancied investing in his boat charter business,as he wanted to buy a larger boat to try and cater for a different market to the Norm, but I turned him down in a polite way.

levi

the drives in question are the troublesome Yanmar units. ZT350`s???

Engines are either the 4 or 6BY`s

For those into Renato Sonny Levi work I suggest a visit to this blog http://www.altomareblu.com/ with Levi himself being one of the colloborators. Here you can see a history of all his designs and boats.
A very interesting post written by Levi himself is about the Riva 2000 first appearance in Miami, featuring the first surface drive to be shown in the States. Here there is also a certain challenge by to Levi by Don Aronow and a certain Ray Hunt about its efficency. It is a very interesting read pity it is only in Italian. But the pictures are international...

I thought Yanmars used bravo 111's as they didnt have a DRIVE? Are they noy Yamaha's?

yes Yanmar used to use Mercruiser drives in the past, but a while ago launched their own drive, but just like you, appart from the shows, I've never seen one in real use.

No, Yamaha drives have nothing to do with Yanmar, the confusion is just in the name, (as I was confused aswell, many years ago)

Though Yamaha aswell as Yanmar use Toyota car engines in some of their models

I love a Levi.
And of course another interesting read is Sonny Levi's own book, "Dhows to Deltas" (1971) - which includes some nice line drawings of some of his designs and his ideas.

Many thanks for the pics of 'K' (above), Firefly625.

Foolish boy: not nicer - just different. :D

But I have to say, that Corsair is fabulous. Hopefully, she'll be out on the water this summer so that we can all have a look.

I'll be chanting Hail Mary again before the day is out....

I really like the Levi boats and in some respects they are a better hull that the Hunt hull.

There.

I've said it.
