Hi guys,
Is it possible to get letters to stick to the canvas of a sail cover? I want to get the boat name and club affiliations onto the sail cover. What I don't want to do is try stitching them on as I know my limits with the sewing machine

Any help gratefully recived

J

You could try painting them with acrylic paint. A good technique would be to mask the area, then apply the paint with a roller. Once the paint has dried, make sure you iron the back of it with a hot-as-possible iron to seal the paint. This makes it permanent. Well, it certainly doesn't come off t-shirts when they've been washed countless times. I think any stickers will come off fabric unless they've been properly bonded or sewn on.

Also worth a thought, apparently some sail makers use permanent markers (Pentel) for sail numbers to save weight. If your cover is dark you can get white ones. You'll need to experiment because there is a tendancy for the ink to spread but with care it can be done.
