Lets Make it Harder...

Like "Can you Limbo lower now...?" - who can name a popular singer/writer who has been an active small vessel sailor, and a song they have sung/written which is boaty? If you really want to show off, name one of their boats as well.

Here is a start (with the showing off bit as well):

Bob Dylan - Blowin' in the Wind, Jokerman (first verse anyway), The Mighty Quinn (first verse anyway). Boat, as far as I know all boats have had the word "Joker" in name, at least one was "Jokerman" - many years ago he joined a friend on the beach for a barbecue; quite unexpectedly, they didn't realise the other boat was him.

David Crosby (The Byrds, CSN) real boaty one him - Southern Cross (a classic raggie one), Dolphin Smile, Wooden Ships, Lee Shore, Wind on the Water, To the last Whale..., Shadow Captain (sort of), After the Dolphin. One boat was the "Mayan", have seen a number of video interviews done on board his boat.

Simon le Bon (Duran, Duran) - Night Boat, Crystal Ship (stretching it). Boat, "Drum".

"Southern Cross" (Crosby, Stills and Nash) is very boaty and romantic and lyrics are worth a read - they are at http://www.thesonglyrics.com/c_song_lyrics/crosbystillsnash_lyric2.html

I am sure there are many more. What about some more UK artists?

Did the Beach Boys sail or did they just party in Marina del Rey, drowning Dennis Wilson?

Regards

"newbie" John
