Hoping to purchase a 46-50 foot flybridge early next year around £350k but with the doom and glume and boating economy how would the value be affected if a month after purchase the builder went bust,
So if I had just bought a used 2 year old something for £350K and the builder went bust by how much would that effect the value overnight.

Well you can buy mine if you're interested /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Yes I agree with your point. Initially I don't think it does the value of used boats any good if the builder goes bust. People don't want to be associated with a failed company and they are worried about warranties (eg 5yr hull warranty) and back up in general. They are also worried that boats built just before the bust were shoddily put together. However after a while I think prices settle down at a level and certain marques will always have their fans. Birchwoods, for example, are still sought after despite the builder going bust

I think it makes very little difference. A boat isn't like a car where other dealerships don't want to repair another marque. You can get a boat fixed anywhere, so all you lose by the builder going bust is some of the warranty, which is no big deal generally (though some will perceive it to be)

Also going bust doesn't mean the product discontinues. It did with Birchwood becuase no-one wants to remake them. But marques like Palmer Johnson, Evinrude/Johnson have all survived the bustification of the company that made them. If you take say very finacially streched business like Bavaria, even if the levergaed holding company goes bust the operating business will survive under new ownership.

Fancy a Azimut 46 or possibly a 50, also a Sealine T50, T47/T52, Phantom 46.
Have a Sealine F33 at the minute and want more room and stability in the chop, just love the Azimut and fancy the cats over the Volvo D9s, apart from that I am not really fussy but wondered how it would effect the value of a 2 or 3 year old boat if the builder went bust.

FWIW, I wouldn't consider the T47 'coz it's flybridge is small for a 47 footer and the galley position in the saloon looks naff. The T50 is a real ugly duckling but I like the T51/52 which IMHO is a lot of boat for the money and nicely laid out. We felt the Phantom 46 was small compared to other 46 footers. Our previous boat was an AZ46 and overall, we liked it although the galley is very pinched on the 3 cabin version and there's no separate lazarette. I really like the AZ50 because it has very comfy and spacious saloon seating and a nice fly layout
What about the Princess 50? Also the Princess 52 would fall into your budget. Again a lot of boat for the money
