As a satisfied customer. Twice in the last 2 weeks I've ordered stuff (and quite large and heavy stuff on the second occasion) on line from Force 4 at about midday and, having spent the extra £4 for next day delivery, have been pleased to get to my work address the next morning at 8.30 (ish) to find the deliveries awaiting me, securely packed, intact, complete and that's what I call bleddy good service.:)

Maybe so, but when they try to charge me "Highlands & Islands" delivery charges, then "No thanks, I'll go somewhere else".

Where EXACTLY do they think Aberdeen is??

I'll comment in 3 weeks when I get some of my words together... I'll complete the post in 6 weeks after you have nagged me for a bit.

So all they have done is supply the goods on time with a next day delivery that you paid extra for as they had contracted to do.

I would suggest the 8-30 delivery was more to do with the fact you were early on the carriers route and nothing the chandler can take credit for.

I am impressed when a supplier performs beyond the limits of his contractual obligation.......

Best service from Force 4 is in the shop at Port Hamble

I popped into the Force 4 shop at Port Hamble marina (formerly Alladdin's Cave) to buy some replacement seals for my Jabsco loo, because it wasn't drawing raw water. Picked up two packets of spare parts and went to the tills.

Was confidently told that I wouldn't need one of them (the more expensive of the two), since it was always the other one that was the problem. Then was given detailed instructions how to take the loo apart, including advice on taking care with the double threaded screws not to misalign them. Finally, given tips on how to make sure the next set of seals last longer.

Now that's what I call service!!:)

Agree with OP.

Items ordered 14:15 yesterday on t'internet, standard delivery (did not pay for next day), in my hands by 09:30 this morning.

I accept that the courier probably makes a collection every afternoon and I happen to be early on the delivery route, but it is still nice to have another problem sorted ready for next weeks cruise.

Thankyou F4 (if you are reading)
Stuart

But as most of us will no doubt have experienced, an increasingly rare occurence these days, especially with some online chandlers.

Well done Force 4 - you aren't the cheapest but the stuff always seems to come when you say it will.

Force 4 & Marine Superstore

I have spent a lot of money with Force 4 over the last year refitting my boat. They have nearly always been excellent in terms of advice and delivery. I also use Marine Superstore for the same reasons but there can be significant prices differences between the two suppliers so I always look at both and then decide.

Marine Superstore are usually cheaper for electronics and Force 4 are cheaper for general chandlery. Now that I've moved the boat to Swansea I'm ordering over the Internet more and the free delivery on orders over £100 gave Marine Superstore the edge. But Force 4 are fighting back by opening a new store in Cardiff.....chandlery doesn't seem to be a word they've heard of in Swansea, well certainly not around the marina!!

So, for me it's always these two and well done to both of them.

Can't agree about Force 4. Bought a toilet from them last year and had no end of trouble getting them to accept that some sort of guidance or instruction on paper should have been in the box. I really did want to know about recommended hose heights and all that.

They suggested that if I needed instructions maybe I shouldn't be fitting it in the first place. Ended up with instructions for electric one.

Then there's the clothes enquiries that don't get answered for six weeks, the absolutely useless fishfinder advice (young man simply wouldn't believe that a Westerly hull was as thick as it actually is) , the outboard bracket with an absolutely alien set of dimensions (wrong instruction leaflet in box)......
