Hi Folks,
Tiercel, our Westerly Falcon, is currently stranded ashore in Lakki after filling with water while on shore - last winter's rains apparently found a way of getting in. The good news is that the yard will be starting work on her shortly with a view to completing the work for our arrival in late September.

Before the flood we were, after many years in the Aegean, planning to start the journey home to Scotland this autumn and had allowed 3 -4 weeks to leg it across to the Ionian.

The problem is that, until we get to Leros and give her a sea trial, we really won't know whether we will be able to make the journey or not. Thus we won't be able to book a berth/haul out until the last minute. My question is - will we be able to find a reasonably priced berth at the last minute? If so, where?

Many thanks - Bob Chicken

The current Google Earth imagery for Akio is from December last year. It looks as if there was space then in both Ionian (the triangular area furthest from the water) and Cleopatra (south of that.) We liked Ionion but have heard recommendations for all three.

A little boatyard in Ormos Rougas has appeared since we were there 7 years ago - http://hainzl-design.net
DIdn't go ashore, so don't know how big or whether they have space.

Aktio told us last week that we needed to book PDQ if we wanted a space. They all look pretty full now in midsummer.
Also consider Margarona Boatyard in Vathi creek, just N of Preveza. manetas21@yahoo.gr

Tony their will all tell you that you need to book , I lay money come oct there still be room . As Jordanbasset said , all good yards . Other options , Megansi marina , of Corfu yacht yard .

Tony will you still be about in late sept ? , if so might see you then when we return from Croatia on the way to Malta .

As Vic says, they will all fit you in. Aktio has no rules on who can work in the yard where Prevessa takes a percentage, and Cleopatra only allows their own staff top work their. I suspect for you that Aktio will be best for you. Their underlift trailers are also safe with huge lift pads. Watch out for the Leros Evros marina one - the pads are too small for a Westerly to be lifted safely.

Call Aktio and book a date, But you don't need to pay a deposit. If you cant go, ring them and cancel.

How exactly did the water get into the boat (speaking as an Oceanlord Owner)?

Hi. So sorry to hear Tiercel has been damaged by water ingress. We will be over in Leros mid September. Will email you direct. Regards.. Chatelaine

We should be there around 22nd &, if boat repaired will be legging it to Ionian on 2nd so look forward to hearing from you.

Go to Gouvia, Corfu. Plenty of room there for a little 'un! Also, you can fly back to the UK direct until 2nd November and flying out for maintenance is still possible via Athens with Aegeanair with relatively short stopovers there. Preveza tends to shut itself off in the Oct-Apr period. Corfu also has much better access to boating supplies. You can stay at the Pyrros Hotel for €22 a night too. It is a short walk from the marina.

+1 always room to spare in civilized surroundings.

Long time no see....

Hi Bob & Gina - great to hear from you.

How long are intending to be out? We'll be in Lefkas for the winter and would love to meet up.

We're in the Ionian all summer so if there's anything we can do to help from this end, get in touch.

Great to hear from you. We would love to meet up again!

Once the boat is confirmed as being seaworthy we'll be legging it out to the Ionian as quickly as possible. Ideally we're aiming to leave Leros around 4.October so, weather permitting, should be in Ionian by mid/late October.
