Umm - what about going downstream??
Treble Matthew Walker with Turks Head attachment, or use the Jubilee bypass
I have seen, on a Dutch barge being single handed, what appeared to be a continuous line between bow and stern cleats which on elntering the lock was dropped over appropriate bollards, the central slack was then taken up. to control the boat. Seemed effective but must have been a pain going upstream, maybe not used that way I guess.
