I have a pal affected by this but he’s not in a position to deal with it at the moment so I’m posting to seek the views of experienced liveaboarders Hope you guys can help.

I’ve read that Licata Marina has been “seized by the courts”. I believe the issue to be related to charges payable to the state. The marina is challenging the seizure and in the meantime the Administrator seems happy to let the management carry on pretty much as normal.

Does anyone have any additional local knowledge or word on the street?

If annual berthing fees were due anytime soon and with no wish to move due to circumstances, would you be happy to pay and what safeguards can be made to protect the payment and berth?

Many thanks

This marina is well known to be run by the Mafia so don't be surprise at what happens next , after just one winter there some years back I personally wouldn't go back , as Robbie said , MDR is a much better and friendly Marina although I understand its too have problems with finances and have had two change of management.
on the positive side, I cant see it shutting down but I also wouldn't be looking at paying any fees until its sorted you mate may be better off taken some time of and moving his boat.

I would advise your friend to get the boat out asap, even if he has to send a delivery crew. I don't know Italian law, but you can be damn sure he won't be getting the truth from the management.
