Lefkas approach from the north

Ok, been there, seen it & done it. Easier than before. From the north you see three yellow pillars ( don't know the proper English word, hence the picture) the depth is way above what it used to be, 4-5 meters. Do not get to close to the spit (see picture) and do not get close to the red bouys.

Youp: I'm sure that will be helpful to anyone approaching the canal from the north, and there will be a fair number over the next few weeks. Your photo resolution is too low to be clear, but by any chance are the yellow pillars cardinal marks, i.e. with yellow and black stripes? I imagine the probity of approaching the red cans is much as it was before: in other words, don't, that way lie dragons.

Next, we await news as to whether the depths you report are maintained long-term (but not necessarily from you). Thanks.

Mac, they are not cardinal marks, plain yellow all over. The red cans I avoided since they seem to be in the same place as before. Joep ps I have high resolution photos but I do not if I can post these. Happy to mail them if somebody is interested.

Well done sir .

The channel to the north is very easy now. There are three large yellow bouys which you need to pass on the East side. Then the approach is easy, keeping the sandbank to your west side and staying clearof the red bouys.
The Lefkas channel to the South is totally without bouys now. Dredging work is going on and all the markers have been removed. Just stay in the deep part on your plotter and you'll be ok.

Been through it a couple of times this year. They have added three new groins to the north which are marked with yellow cans and lit. The depths in the basin are fine. Have not seen anyone going along side, just waiting outside and then coming in before the hour. Bridge is being opened fully every time (apparantly) rather than the half opening, so plenty of room to go in and out.

Opens on the hour, every hour during daylight.

The bridge controller sounds one horn five minutes before he starts to open and then another as he starts to open.

North to South bound traffic has the right of way.

Just been through from the north. Keep yellow buoys to starboard and all is well. Here is a time lapse that I took

It's time to put everyone mind at ease , there so much depth now you could take a sub through .
But if people really need a video to help them navigate the channel , I have a copy of the sound of music I could put on YouTube .
