I have bought a number of inexpensive LED-lights at IKEA. Now, I am trying to change their colour which is very cold into a warmer white. Has anyone done this? What do I use. I have tried markers in different colours but the effect is not right yet.
Thanks for any ideas on this subject

cheers

The problem is that the light spectrum of a white LED isn't a nice smooth broad spectrum like real white light. If for instance you were put a red filter on it virtually no light would get through at all as there is no red light energy there. In general terms a filter will just cut the light output to very little.

All you wanted to know about LEDs and probably a lot more /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

These people sell warm white lights for boats

I made up an array of 40 white leds and 10 red ones, which when put through a "normal" lightfilter looks almost exactly the same as the old 10 watt festoon, except that it uses only 1 watt

Or Google "Ultraleds" - however it sounds like you're looking to improve what you have - could add a couple of yellows onto the array (replacing some of the existing leds)
