LED Head torches...

I bought one of those and my family laughed at it, saying it was too cheap to be any good.
Then my daughter borrowed it in an emergency and granddaughters then used it. I can't get it back now, I suppose I'll have to go and buy myself some more "Cheap Rubbish"
[Aldi also had safety specs with LED attached, seriously un-cool, so safe from borrowing]

Those caps do indeed look like a good buy.

Field & Trek do one for about a fiver....only one LED but great on a boat and the watch style batteries last for ages........I would'nt recommend getting one with multiple LEDs, yes they are bright......but they eat batteries. One LED is enough in my opinion

LED Lenser

Another vote for LED Lenser. Quality bit of kit - various levels of power and features. Some have dimmers and can be adjusted to focus at different angles - very useful when working close to something especially if you wear vari-focal glasses!!

Any recommendations, please?

There's a bewildering range of prices on Amazon, from £3 to loadsa money.

I'm not going potholing, or anything too extreme, but want it for a kayaking and back to (very) basics camping holiday in Sweden.

I'd rather pay more than get some rubbish by Rolson, but don't want to spend silly money.

A range of output would be useful.

Thank you for your thoughts.

Energizer Advanced 7 LED Head Torch

Go for the advanced mind, the red light is really handy. I have tried others but I like the size and light output from this one. I bought it by accident, but would replace with the same if it goes awry. I find the lamps with half a torch strapped to your forehead can feel unstable and I had one for a while, I kept knocking it out of position by catching it on bits of engine etc.

oh! I've had this one now for I'm guessing over 5 years, maybe more, the elastic is getting a bit tired but the lamp is still going strong. The elastic looks easy enough to re-manufacture or fit with the one in the shed drawer that is half a torch (see above).

+1 +1 +1 - these are just excellent. Takes 3 x AAA batteries. Is extremely bright and has an adjustable angle. Superb for working in engine or in lockers. Has a red LED as well, for night nav.

petzl myo xp

its brilliant.

(tho the flash is un nerving when it seemingly cuts out for a second when the battery is low)

alpkit gamma - bit fragile - have had about 6 of these now - they fail anywhere near salt water - corrode at battery terminals. fixable for e while, then the wiring internally seems to go

depends what you are doing - eg for fixing car i use alpkits, for climbing/bosty stuff where i need reliability i use the xp

have a led lenser torch, and am most impressed. will try out a head torch variant
