Checked on the boat after the recent storms and noticed damp marks under both portlights in the rear bedroom, and damp carpet in the front bedroom on one side, so it looks as if my list of jobs is growing. I know early SC35's suffered from leaking portlights, but mine is the S380 built by Hanse so I was hoping any known issues would have been sorted. Either way it needs to be sorted ASAP. I have watched the you tube videos and in theory it looks to be straightforward, but it was on a bare fibreglass hull, plus I dont know whether the outer frame is bedded on a sealant or adhesive. I am hoping the upholstered panel particularly in the front bedroom doesnt make it too difficult as well. My question is has anyone had experience removing and resealing them who could give me some tips, and also I am unsure on what to reseal them with. I am thinking more of a sealant than an adhesive/sealant such as Geocel Marine Rubber Silicone sealant, Sikaflex 591, Sikaflex 295UV or any other suggestions, or do I bite the bullet, assume it wont be a problem again and use an adhesive sealant. That makes a wider choice and could include CT1, OB1 as contenders. Any advice will be gratefully received!!
