Evening all, I have water leaking at my two rudder shafts on my Priny 35 any you guys know the procedure of removing them ? i dont see any glands, is it seals of some sort ? any help will be appreciated cheers

A plastic seel I think. I had mine done a few years ago. Didn't see it done, so no idea really. Would think if you take the stock off the top, the rudders will drop down.

Some one will be along in a minute, to give you chapter and verse.

Hi There
Not my speciality but this is what i know. Quite often there is a small rubber o ring set into a nylon bush one at the top and one at the bottom of the stock, these tend to perish and wear with age, especially at the base, they can also be damaged when inserting the rudder so be careful when the new ones are fitted! I have also seen rudders gripped by the nylon bushes so you have to work them out. A small leak around a rudder stock is not that uncommon, I would be inclined to get all the parts to hand prior to undertaking the work..

I am inclined to agree with busy fool. I have seen this a few times where the "O" rings are perished or in some cases missing. In one case on a friends Arvor fishing boat I replaced the "O" rings and fitted a grease nipple directly into the rudder tube which I subsequently filled with grease, the effects of this were two fold. Firstly it stopped the small amount of sea water that was bypassing the "o" ring and secondly has increased the life of the new bushes and "O" rings.
