Leaky Forehatch

I have a leaky forehatch

it dribbles when it rains

I naow have a small tarp over it when I leave the boat

I think that the dribble comes when the hatch fills with water and then the rain gets between the glass and the aluminium surround

does this mean it is curtains for the hatch?

or is there some way of dismantling it and replacing the seal?

beginning to miss the slug's bombproof dustbin lid style fore-hatch

Ah, a wonderful Houdini hatch. A local Chandler recommends a 'Gebo' replacement for these.

I've heard that those who have replaced the Houdini with the Gebo speak highly of their investment.

you need to be sure where its coming in I suppose. My houdinin is water tight - but there's drops coming through the corners of the wooden frame which its mounted on. If you believe its the glass/frame seal, you could try masking off and applying a neat fillet of sikaflex on the outside. I did this on my side windows with good success - its a pretty quick fix & is holding up well. (you'll need the patience of Job to get around & under those bars though!).
