Leaking windscreen

I have a leaking windscreen which needs to be removed and re bedded, are there any companies that carry out this type of work in the Bristal area?

If Advance can’t do it at Portishead, you could try a car screen fitter? Are you sure it has to come out? Have you tried Captain Tolleys Creeping Crack Cure?

Afaik, the answer is almost always yes, in these cases. The most important question is whether the glass is glued or framed.
If the latter, that's the occasion when you appreciate old school construction. But if the first, well, good luck... :ambivalence:

Captain Tolleys Creeping Crack Cure - worked a treat for the windows around Play d'eau when being told the only answer was to have the windows removed. Perfect solution, simple and inexpensive. Try it first. You might save yourself a great deal of cash.

Bear in mind that whenever autoglass turn up they kick the windscreen out from inside and break it in the process.

Getting a screen out unbroken I am sure is possible but based on how they do it on cars I would imagine the odds are stacked against you.

Zero experience on car windscreen replacement, but if that's what they do with cars, I suppose that's because of two reasons:
1) they only replace a windscreen because it's already broken;
2) potential collateral damages would be limited.

Should I have a boat with glued glasses leaking, anyone who would even remotely suggest to do something like that would be kicked out on the spot!

Besides, I did see a large windscreen detached and re-attached because it was leaking (and the boat wasn't that old btw, maybe a dozen of years or so).
It is indeed feasible, but the time and attention required (together with a fair degree of sheer luck) is a multiple, when compared to traditional framed glasses - hence my previous comment.

JRudges version sounds right .
Had fresh glass in the Itama last year .Fancied a different tint that’s all ,no leaks .
Yard job using outside contractors.
They warned me the exsisting glass would have to be smashed on removal .
It’s stainless steel frames and bonded .
The bonding is done in two parts - gross setting and later when it’s set finer detailing / finishing , replace frame covers .
Despite a reasonable clean up etc we kept finding tiny glass cubes from the job months - in knooks and crannies .
7 pieces in all .
When I arrived ( sort of job you don,t really want to be present) they had done 6 and fitted a temp Perspex in one .Told it had fractured when they fitted it and another week to make another .
I don,t think it’s actually laminated like a car windscreen, it’s Temperex hardend , toughened stuff , so it shatters into cubes , once in its in needs chiselling out .
You have a choice of tints .

Geez... And here I was, thinking that when I fitted a fresh water flush system for engines, genset, airco and shaft seals I went a bit OTT...
Glasses replacement just for tint preference is bound to go straight to the top of the 1st world problems all time ranking of the asylum!
