my aluminium windows fitted to a steel boat need the seals replacing.....but they are bolted in with what looks like some type of brass screw...i've tried taking some out but are corroded badly and will probably need drilling out....

What sort of screws should i replace them with....will stainless be ok....

Any ideas on where to buy new seals or will house hold clear glazing sealant be ok

Brass and Aluminium are about as bad as you can get! If you replace with SS then bed them in loads of that yellow stuff because even SS in Al has its probs. The swindlery you get the bolts from will know what it's called. Mine always offers a dollop in a plastic bag for free but I do seem to buy a lot of SS thingies to fit on Al spars!

I no longer use brass fixings they just don't last even inside.
I made new windows from acrylic this summer and made gaskets by cutting
bicycle inner tube into strips and lightly coating with Sikaflex. For the first time ever
the windows don't leak!! Used stainless cap head machine screws into heavy foam sandwich to avoid visible nuts on the inside.
I also fitted a new Vetus forehatch which I'm impressed with. Very reasonaby priced and
really is waterproof unlike many of the other makes.
