My Yanmar 1GM10 raw water pump has been leaking so I've removed it and ordered the replacement seals (my Selloc manual shows two oil seals but surely one must be a water seal?) to refurbish it, as the bearings etc seem OK. The job seems straight forward enough but before I start is there anything I need to look out for? Do the bearings come out of the pump body reasonably easily?

the yanmar pump bodies wear and you get the situation where they lose their head when standing, and dont pump as efficiently as when new. can be corrected with machining, but if this facility is not available, a new pump is the only option. in that case, no point in doing the seals. so check how worn the body is.

Hi,

Speak to Marine Power at Deacons Boatyard, they give advice freely and I have found them very helpful with good prices. My 1GM10 had water leaking from the water pump but it turned out to only coming from where the flexible pipe is fixed to the inlet pipe for the pump.

Not sure of the phone number, but they advertise in PBO.
