leaking pushrod cover

Hi everyone, I have been trying to fix a leak on my 1999 3.0 mercruiser, coming from the pushrod cover. I have changed the gasket (the previous one was entirely the rubber stuff) but the leak has got worse. Previously it wasn't obvious at idle, now its leaking tiny drops from the bottom at both ends.

I'm assuming the cover is bent and needs replacing? Or would replacing it with a tube of rubberised gasket be best (and if so how does the distributer come off!!??)

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated
