The pump on my Lavac has an electric drive on a Henderson Mk V body. I can't stop water getting into the drive side of the diaphram (leaking out of the bdrain hole in the motor drive).

I have stripped down the diaphram and it is in good condition, I can't see an signs of wear or holes. I assume water is getting between the washers and out via the screw hole.

Can someone confirm which way round the washers should go, and can I use any sealant around the central fixing bolt?

TIA

I had the exact same problem on my manual one.Even the new diaphragm would leak.In the end I solved the problem for good by wrapping a few turns of plumbers tape (teflon) around the bolt under the nut.
Hope this helps.

Also you could try greasing the threads of the plastic nut so that you can tighten it more smoothly. Sealant round the hole where the bolt passes through has been recommended to me as well. But do check that you have not got a split nut or bolt.
