I discovered the fridge covered in a gooey mess not long ago which was down to leaking, unopened beer cans. (They had probably been there for 3 mths during winter) I don't know if it's worse with certain brands but it seems that in some, the aluminium in the cans is so thin or poor quality that they almost start dissolving as soon as they're put onboard! Not keen on beer bottles so what works in the beer can world?

We’ve had the same problem this season with both, Beer & Tonic. The cans are paper thin, but glass is just to heavy.

I had a 4 pack of San Miguel the other day - the cans were glued together so it was impossible to seperate them without denting the cans, thankfully they didn't split. Saves on plastic I suppose.

My ones in the bilge don't seem to last a season, even if wrapped or resting on foam matting. Beer inside seems to be drinkable though despite exiting through pinholes.

My compressed air operated fog horn suffered the same . Luckily I heard the escaping gas and with no dog onboard to blame!. Beer cans on the other hand, lucky if they stay onboard long enough to suffer.

iirc all this cans are plastic with a ali coating on top? seen a youtube video of a guy pooring coke and letting a can simmer in there only to pull it out as transuscent soft plastic thingie with liquid still intact...

Snap!!!

Mine was all zero alcohol mostly foreign beers so I did wonder if it was the source. Anyway I guess the only answer is to drink it.

Incidentally, if you also carry tinned tomatoes - same issue but even more messy.

Agree usually the cans disappear quickly so not an issue. It seems to be at the start of the season or left hidden away. Worse things happen:)

I’m in two minds about this...on one hand beer should only be stored and served in glass, that’s just a given...but on the other hand, broken Heineken bottles are a curse for all the barefoot dogs out there just trying to enjoy a walk...a plague on their house
