Leader 805 trim tabs - how important?

Just browsing, I see that there's plenty of 805's on the marker without trim tabs.

To any owners out there... how important are trim tabs on these boats? Would you buy an 805 without them?

if the boat performs well and has no problem in planning I would purchase any boat without them
just bear in mind then when the sea has a chop you will always have a more comforable ride with the tabs
both the boats I had was always unlucky to never have tabs, but always I fitted a pair of Bennett later on, which is not a difficult job to do

Not essential to performance

I've a 2006 805 which I added the ql blades to.

The boat doesn't need them to either get on the plane or for enhance performance, the only reason I fitted them was to be able to correct any lean on a long passage with wind across the bow. I have noticed that with a little tab the boat pops out of the water even quicker and almost level as if the bow doesn't rise at all.

Nice to have but not at all essential on this boat.

Thanks for the info, just what I wanted to hear. I understand that tabs are much more essential in some boats than others. I suppose it would be something to take into account when making an offer

We didn't have tabs on our 805 and we didn't order them on our new Prestige 36 and for 2 years we were quite happy with our performance, that is until we tried a friends 36 with them fitted. Boy! do they make a difference. The 36 has always been a good sea boat and handles a chop quite well but being able to trim the bow down in a head sea makes an enormous difference to the ride, all but eliminating slam. If the improvement is as marked on the 805 I would make sure you have them fitted.
