I ended up standing on the bottom of Baltimore harbour (fortunately at low tide) following a rain shower after walking on an area I'd coated with Cetol marine. Promotional info that I have seen for Le Tonkinois says that it is not slippery when wet. Can anyone confirm this from real world experience?

It is indeed glossy, but not slippery when wet. The surface is soft and sticky, walk barefoot on it and can really feel it, somehow amazing but still true.

My own personal experience of the bottom of Baltimore Harbour is that it is slippery at High Tide:)

Excellent stuff.

Glossy but non-slip, hard wearing and easy to recoat. Also It doesn't seem to flake like "proper" varnish.

I was so impressed with it on the boat that I used it on the stairs at home, still good 5 years later
