Hi, i'm wondering, I have all the books and charts etc. but wondered if anyone with first hand experience knew how long I should allow for getting from Le Havre to Paris. I'm not worried about sight seeing etc. it's just going to be a quick push so I can meet crew in Paris?

Thanks

Michael

Sorry, not clear about your mode of transport!

Do you want train timetables? Or is this a boating question?
Forumites Petrolia will tell you how to do it in a Mobo, Grehan in a Southerly , both wrote nformative blogs.
I was there last year and going again soon. Can I help?

Ok, thanks, yes i'm going to be in a Contessa 26, as a worst case scenario the crew can come and meet me further north but i'm hoping to use them for the tricky locks after Paris as i'll be single handing and only have help for 3 weeks. Yes LH to Rouen in one daylight tide which looks a long way with a 10hp Yanmar but the tide should help. Looking at the distance 1 week looks plenty to allow for Rouen to Paris without being too rushed?

Le Havre -Rouen should be done in one flood. Stop in Rouen, you won't make the first lock on the same tide and I remember it runs quite hard. Once through the first lock there is little current but the locks close usually around 8.00 and open at 7.00. You can do it quite easily in 3 days from Rouen but you will be missing out. We took this route to the med and I have always regretted not taking longer and especially on the Seine. Port de Plaisance de Paris Arsenal is great.

Le Havre - Rouen took a long time because I got the timing wrong! And the engine was a Yanmar 1GM (7hp)
You need to start when the flood tide starts at first light because you can't travel at night (1 hr after sunset)
All the details here

Look at last month's and the latest PBO. A very good and detailed article of just that journey and lots of good info - all achieved with a small engine too.

Ok, thanks everyone, yes I'm following the PBO article, it's a similar boat to a CO26 from memory. Just want more reassurances and my friend has booked her flight now so was a little worried I wouldn't make it.
