I have, but I only get to visit the store about once a month; there isn't one in our normal shopping area. Tunbridge Wells is too posh I guess

At our local LIDLs they are just as likely to appear early (and maybe sold out by the 'correct' day) ..... or appear late! And yes, I am am subscribed specifically for our local store.

Yes that happens at our branch too.
A couple of weeks ago I went in for something. None there just an empty display, presumably all sold. A week later they had loads!

Oooh, Muppet indeed....I was always taught in school that if you melt the solder onto the tip, then try to do an electrical joint by pasting it on, it will be a "dry" joint and it will fail....
There will be a sad little boy with a non-moving train in a little while!

The variable temperature control and power light are useful, but the one I have burned the tips away very quickly......

Oh, and VicS, I hate you.....as I am now £30 lighter off in the pocket and a tool heavier in the box! (Of course I had to buy the accessory kit deal!) - I also hate Lidl being on my way home after reading up on here!

Picked one up yesterday and used it for the first time today. Excellent tool but beware the brass? wire brush. I was glad of my specs when it showered me with little metal fibers within 30 seconds of starting to use it. Little grinding cylinders are also a bit tight on the holder but they worked well for me removing those little scraps of paint from tight corners.

The soldering iron would be great for tiny electronics but for normal electrical work you want something with more grunt. ie like a 250 w iron. olewill
