Tried a few, some better than others...

Had one of these kits which was ok'ish, never as good as the single packed wipes I have now also ran out of.

When the spray ran out I bought a bulk bottle of AF multi screen clene which should be brilliant, but it's not... leaves streaks and is a bugger to polish off.

So I bought some

of these Essential Value Screen Wipes from currys I think, they were ok but they dry out however careful I am about closing the lid properly after use. Once they start losing their moisture they actually scratch the surface of my laptop slightly.

Ok, this is mostly for my laptops at home, but there is also the plethora of screens on the boat that require regular cleaning too.

I am not trying to spend 3p at lidl, I am looking for a decent premium product to do the job properly. Has anyone found a decent product they can recommend and possibly an online source if you have had good service.

Thank you in advance

J

I've got some Lidl screen cleaning fluid which works extremely well. Can't really see the point in paying more for the word "Premium", but you could always write it on the bottle with a marker (they're cheap at Lidl too) if it makes you feel better...

I am not attempting to spend more than I need to, but there is a bias on the PBO forum to base cheapest=best. I have tried cheap, I have tried premium as seen above and I have still not found a product that is much cop.

The optical route is interesting and presumably safe on plastics, I will definitely look in that direction as I hadn't considered it before.

Try the Calotherm kit from Southwest Optics, you will find it under binocular accessories. Contains spray and cloth and was recommended in one of the mags some time ago. Probably not the cheapest option but you hardly use gallons of the stuff!

I use a clean white washing up cloth dipped in a dilute Fairy liquid mix, then polish with another dry clean white washing up cloth.

I find a damp piece of kitchen roll used gently does the job very well. Just don't put too much pressure on the screen

A posh lint-free glass cloth and some cheap-as-chips meths WFM for *all* screens.
